Director of Strategic Partnerships
Develop and steward relationships with key stakeholders to drive Shared Plate’s mission. You will identify and secure partnerships with corporations, foundations, and community organizations to expand food rescue operations and funding opportunities. Responsibilities include negotiating sponsorship agreements, representing Shared Plate at networking events, and collaborating with the executive team to align partnerships with long-term goals. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in nonprofit development, corporate social responsibility, or business development, with a proven ability to build sustainable alliances.
Director of Finance & Operations
Oversee fiscal health and operational efficiency to ensure responsible growth. You will manage budgets, financial reporting, and compliance while optimizing processes for food rescue and meal distribution. Duties include financial forecasting, grant management, and supervising logistics teams. The ideal candidate is a CPA or finance professional with nonprofit experience, strong analytical skills, and a passion for reducing food waste through data-driven decisions.
Director Community Engagment
Amplify Shared Plate’s impact through outreach and volunteer mobilization. You will design and implement engagement strategies, including volunteer recruitment, donor communications, and public awareness campaigns. Responsibilities include managing social media, organizing community events, and measuring program effectiveness. The ideal candidate has marketing/PR experience, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a deep commitment to fostering inclusive, hunger-free communities.

Food Systems & Sustainability
Provide expertise on sustainable food rescue and distribution models. You will advise on best practices for sourcing surplus food, reducing waste, and implementing eco-friendly kitchen operations. Duties include reviewing supply chain logistics, recommending policy improvements, and connecting Shared Plate with industry leaders. Ideal candidates have 10+ years in food service, agriculture, or sustainability sectors.
Governance & Fundraising
Guide organizational strategy and revenue diversification. You will analyze fundraising campaigns, assess governance policies, and mentor staff on donor stewardship. Responsibilities include reviewing grant proposals and advising on board development. Ideal candidates are seasoned nonprofit executives or philanthropy professionals.
Culinary Innovation & Nutrition
Elevate meal quality and cultural relevance. You will consult on menu planning, kitchen workflows, and nutrition standards using rescued ingredients. Duties include training chefs on zero-waste techniques and auditing meal programs. Ideal candidates are chefs, dietitians, or food educators with multicultural expertise.
Volunteers Open Positions
Food Rescue Volunteer
Assist chefs in preparing nutritious meals from rescued ingredients. You will chop vegetables, pack meals, and maintain kitchen hygiene. No experience needed—training provided. Duties include following food safety protocols and supporting clean-up. Shifts: Flexible, including weekends.
Community Kitchen Volunteer
This role designs and manages an unforgettable volunteer experience from recruitment to retention. If you’re passionate about mobilizing everyday citizens into a force for good, you’ll thrive here. You’ll implement onboarding processes, train team leads, and ensure volunteers feel empowered and appreciated.
Outreach & Events Volunteer
Represent Shared Plate at markets, fairs, and donor drives. You will educate the public about food waste, sign up new volunteers, and assist at community meals. Duties include managing info booths and distributing promotional materials. Strong communication skills preferred. Shifts: 3–4 hours per event.

How do I sign up to volunteer?
Simply fill out our Volunteer or Joining Form – it takes 2 minutes! We’ll contact you within 48 hours to discuss roles matching your skills and schedule.
Do I need cooking experience to help in the kitchen?
Not at all! We welcome all skill levels. Tasks range from chopping veggies (novice) to plating meals (pro). Our chefs provide friendly guidance.
Can I volunteer with my family or group?
Absolutely! We host Family Volunteer Days every Saturday and accommodate corporate/student groups.
